The State Museum of Oriental Art. Main building
one of the largest museum collections of oriental art in Russia. Founded in Moscow on October 30, 1918, in the early 2020s. It is located in the Lunin estate (1813-1823, architect D. Gilardi) and in Pavilion No. 13 at VDNH. The North Caucasian branch in Maikop has been operating since 1985. The collection contains objects from more than 100 Asian and African countries totaling more than 150,000, dating from the Neolithic era to the 21st century. The collections are formed according to the geographical principle (the Far East, the Middle East, Southeast Asia, South, Central and Central Asia, the North Caucasus and Transcaucasia, Siberia and the Far North, Northern and Tropical Africa, etc.) and according to the materials from which specific objects are made. The museum is actively engaged in scientific and educational work.
