Museum of Wooden Architecture
The Museum of Wooden Architecture is part of the Vladimir-Suzdal Museum-Reserve, created in the 1960s. The open-air exhibition presents monuments of wooden architecture of the 18th–19th centuries, transported from villages of the Vladimir region. The complex recreates the layout of a Central Russian village and includes: peasant huts with traditional layout and interior; outbuildings (barns, baths, windmills); wells with “cranes”; two wooden churches: Preobrazhenskaya (1756) and Resurrection (1776) with characteristic hipped roofs and carved decor. The exhibition demonstrates the technologies of Russian carpentry, regional features of architecture and the everyday life of rural residents. The interiors reproduce an authentic setting with authentic household items, fabrics, utensils and tools.
