Tula Museum of Fine Arts
The Tula Museum of Fine Arts is one of the largest regional museums in Russia. The museum received its own building in 1964 - it was designed by Tula architect P. M. Zaitsev. In 1995, the institution received the name “Tula Museum of Fine Arts”, and in 2013 it became part of the Tula Museum Association under the modern name - Tula Regional Art Museum. The museum's holdings include more than 25,000 works. The permanent exhibition features paintings, graphics, sculpture, as well as examples of folk and decorative arts. The space is organized into thematic blocks. In the department of Western European art you can see unique works: the only work in Russia by the Italian Mannerist Orazio Sammacini “The Annunciation” and the complete series of paintings “The Twelve Months” from the workshop of Leandro Bassano (such a complex is not found anywhere else in the world). Other exhibits include glass and porcelain from European manufactories of the 18th century. The Russian art section contains works by masters from the late 17th to the early 20th centuries: I. Aivazovsky, I. Shishkin, V. Serov, V. Polenov, K. Korovin, B. Kustodiev, as well as decorative majolicas by M. Vrubel and works by artists of the “Jack of Diamonds” association. The contemporary art department presents works by artists of the 1920–1930s (A. Deineka, A. Plastov, A. Drevin, A. Tyshler, N. Udaltsov) and 1960–1980s.
