Science, technology, art (Art of Africa)
The museum and exhibition educational complex “Science, Technology, Art” is a cultural and educational project of the Moscow Financial and Law University MFUA and MSTU - MASI. It includes several exhibitions: “Art”, “Science and Technology”, “Aviation and Astronautics” and “Art of Africa”, presented at different sites of the university and available for visiting. The exhibition “The Art of Africa” is dedicated to the rich material culture of the region of Tropical Africa, in the plastic forms of which the mythological, ethical and artistic traditions of dozens of peoples inhabiting Mali, Guinea, Sierra Leone, Côte d’Ivoire, Benin, Nigeria, the Democratic Republic of the Congo, Angola and other countries are embodied. The halls display a collection of masks and sculptures made in the traditions of the Yoruba, Bakongo, Dan, Fang, Baule, Chokwe, Punu, Kwele, Kuba, Bamileke and others ethnic groups. The everyday environment of these peoples is recreated with everyday objects, decorated using applied art techniques characteristic of a particular area. The introductory section of the exhibition brought together copies of artifacts belonging to the most ancient cultural layers of the continent in order to clearly demonstrate the continuity in the development of African art, whose roots go back thousands of years.
