Moscow Railway Museum
The museum was opened in 1948 as a pavilion with the exhibition “Funeral Train of V. I. Lenin.” It housed the steam locomotive U127 and baggage car No. 1691, which in 1924 delivered Lenin’s body to Moscow. The central exhibits are a steam locomotive of the U127 series and baggage car No. 1691. The steam locomotive was built in 1910; it is the only surviving example in Russia and the world with the axle formula 2-3-0. In 1999, it was awarded the status of “Monument of Science and Technology of the 1st Category”.
