Trips. In time and space
The Arkhangelskoye Museum-Reserve, together with the HSE School of Design, presents an exhibition exploring the phenomenon of travel as a way of perceiving the world and transforming consciousness. The exhibition (about 250 exhibits) builds a dialogue between eras - from the measured rhythm of travel in carriages and wagons to the dynamics of high-speed trains. Through artifacts, the evolution of the perception of space is revealed: from contemplative comprehension to the clip-based thinking of our time. Among the exhibits: Venetian vedutes and “souvenir luggage” of aristocrats; ancient Egyptian figurine of the goddess Bastet (VII–VI centuries BC); Italian travel albums N. M. Benckendorf (1819–1820); works by N. Goncharova, A. Rodchenko, A. Labas; works of modern authors (V. Logutov, O. Chernysheva, etc.). The route ends with a “living room of memories” with archival photos of the Yusupovs’ travels and works by contemporary artists.
