Arctic. Pole of color

The exhibition, covering the period from the 18th century to the present, reflects the evolution of perception of the northern region: from romanticized images to documentary evidence of the development of the region and modern artistic interpretations. The exhibition included more than 130 works of different genres and techniques. The exhibition includes paintings, graphics, sculpture, photography, ethnographic artifacts and multimedia installations. Among the exhibits are miniature bone icons of the 18th–19th centuries, works by the first artists-travelers in the Arctic - Alexander Borisov and Konstantin Korovin, as well as works by Soviet and modern authors, including participants of polar expeditions: Fyodor Reshetnikov, Mitrofan Beringov and Igor Ruban.
