Vladimir Stozharov. To the 100th anniversary of his birth
In the history of Russian art, the name of Vladimir Fedorovich Stozharov occupies a special place. Having chosen the folk way of life and the everyday life of Russian people as the theme of his work, the artist solves it in a uniquely individual way: in still life, focusing on the beauty and decorativeness of everyday utensils, and in the landscape, admiring the monumentality of village houses “grown into the ground” in their natural accumulation, which have become the archetype and “calling card” of the master. At the same time, his painting is extremely material, and his compositions are architectonically structured: Stozharov shows himself to be a consistent realist, faithful to the values of Russian fine art classics. The tangibility of what is depicted is further emphasized by the characteristic “Stozharov” impasto masonry.
