The splendor of Russian costume
The exhibition is dedicated to the collection of Russian antiquities collected at the end of the 19th century by the philanthropist and collector Natalya Leonidovna Shabelskaya (1841–1904). The “Collection of Russian Antiquities” included several thousand samples of festive folk clothing, headdresses, jewelry, embroidery, weaving, prints and gold lace. For the first time in 135 years, disparate parts of the collection were collected in one place. The exhibition included more than 450 exhibits from 19 Russian museums and several private collections, including the State Hermitage Museum, the State Tretyakov Gallery, the State Russian Museum and the Russian Ethnographic Museum.
