Tambov Regional Art Gallery
The gallery's collection includes about 10,000 exhibits. It presents departments of Russian, modern and Western European art. Significant sections are devoted to Italian art of the 16th–19th centuries, as well as Netherlandish, Flemish and Dutch art of the 16th–17th centuries. The collection of Russian art highlights works by landscape painters of the 19th century, as well as portraits of masters of the 18th century (F. S. Rokotov, D. G. Levitsky, V. L. Borovikovsky). From the state museum fund the gallery received works by I. I. Shishkin, V. D. Polenov, K. A. Trutovsky, as well as works by K. A. Somov, S. Yu. Zhukovsky and other masters of the late 19th - early 20th centuries. Of particular interest are unique examples of decorative and applied art: tapestries, ceramics, clay toys. Part of the collection was formed through receipts from specific estates - for example, from the Vorontsov estate (hence a number of family portraits) or from the estate of Count P. S. Stroganov.
