New Jerusalem

New Jerusalem is a historical and architectural complex in the city of Istra, Moscow region, including the Resurrection New Jerusalem Monastery and the State Historical and Art Museum "New Jerusalem". The complex was created in the 17th century according to the plan of Patriarch Nikon as a recreation of the holy places of Palestine on Russian soil. The New Jerusalem Museum is located 300 meters from the monastery, on the New Jerusalem embankment. The three-story museum building was built in 2013. Exhibition area - 10,000 m². The museum's holdings include about 190,000 exhibits, including archaeological finds, icons, paintings, weapons, household items and other relics.
