Arkhangelskoye Museum-Reserve
The palace and park ensemble of the late 18th - early 19th centuries on the banks of the Moscow River, known as the “Moscow Versailles”. Known since 1584, it flourished during the era of the Yusupov princes (since 1810). In 1919 it became a museum, in 2017 it was included among the especially valuable objects of cultural heritage of the Russian Federation. Key objects: Grand Palace (classicism), Small Palace "Caprice", Gonzago Theater with authentic mechanisms for changing scenery, Temple of the Archangel Michael (XVII century), Yusupov Temple-tomb, Temple-monument to Catherine II. The park combines regular (French) and landscape (English) layouts with marble statues and fountains. The collections include paintings (Claude Lorrain, Guercino), porcelain (including the Yusupov manufactory), bronze, furniture (Empire style, Biedermeier), sculpture and fragments of the Yusupov library (over 16,000 volumes).
